Analog Master Originally recorded and transferred by Audioarchivist U - 101

Lineage:
Band on stage>PA speakers>live air around us>audience>Sony ECM-909 (I think)>Sony WM D3 Dolby on for recording>TDK MA 90>Denon DRM 500 playback deck (azimuth re-aligned to match master)>Sentrek analog eq>Soundblaster card in my PC>Wavelab 4.0 for track seperation>resident of my harddrive ever since>Trader's Little Helper FLAC6 for encoding>TTD>YOU!

This is an un-processed recording, raw and un-cut direct from the tape that attended the show with me. It's had some wear and tear (well, some krinkles, but no tearing yet!) and you'll hear some cassette flaws during the 'accident sections' where the master was almost lost in a hungry tapedeck some years ago... Also the tape flip in 'To Defy...' shows about exactly how much is missing - not much gone. Sorry. Deal with it! It is a semi-binaural ambiophonic stereo recording, and with headphones on and eyes closed, you'll feel like you're there!

Memories:
It was a last minute scramble to get to this show, and my old mics were dead for then. So, I had borrowed this Sony mic (either an ECM 907 or 909) and had to hold it in my hand. I felt like I was holding a gun or something. Not too stealthy! You'll hear several comments from the crowd around me: "Look at this guy behind me making a bootleg!" "That's pretty sneaky..." "[TAP TAP TAP on the mic] HI MOM!"
I brought a crappy camera to snap some pics of the day. I'm not that tall, and a really towering dude was standing next to me, so he snapped these shots for me. Only a few of Primus actually turned out, and an ex-girlfriend got most of them. I've included the 2 shots I still have, plus some tickets and stuff for your artwork extravaganza! If you make some cool Photoshop CD Cover art for this, please post it around, and email me your results:

I'd seen them the year before opening for RUSH, and I'd never heard of them back then, thinking 'cute name for an opening band - Prime-Us!' Kicking myself for not taping them then. Almost made up for it with this show! Sorry I've sat on these tapes (metaphorically) for years, and happy to find a venue to share them now!
I did tape the whole day, and one day you'll see the other stuff surface...but before that I wanna get Primus Vancouver 1997 Aug 29 Pacific Coliseum show done... I even got soundcheck on that one....
I've also got 3 other Les Claypool gems almost ready for mass release:
Les Claypool & The Holy Mackerel @Town Pump Vancouver Oct 18 1996
Primus @ Ozzfest '99 Thunderbird Stadium Vancouver July 16 1999
Oysterhead @The Orpheum Vancouver Oct 23 2001
