An earlier Antony show from the short European tour last year supporting Coco Rosie.
No Johnsons, just Antony on piano with guitar accompaniment from Steven (I remembered
him being introduced with a full name on the night but another listen to this show
proves me wrong...) Wonderful to hear the songs so naked. Antony is also very funny
(treating us to verses from his forgotten song cycle, Cliffs of Dover.) But not quite
as funny as the two gentleman directly in front of me find him. Their chemically
enhanced appreciation of subtleties lost on the rest of us is here preserved for
eternity. Sierra from Coco Rosie comes out and adds her unmistakable operatic voice
to Hope There's Someone. Before you ask, i tried, but failed, to record their set.
Which is a shame as they were as strange and enchanting as ever.

The show was recorded a little quietly - and in bumping up the sound, an amount of
hiss becomes apparent too. Otherwise a pretty nice sound however - vocals very clear
and upfront. And a beautiful show, of course. Haven't heard any other tapes from this
tour - or anything earlier at all. Do recordings of any of the NYC theatrical /
gallery shows exist?

Antony has had a fabulous year - and he deserves it all. If you haven't already, buy
the records - you know you need them.
