Notes:

Original CDs provided by Dick Latvala, circa Summer 1999, to Grateful Dead-themed radio show. I obtained a copy from the show’s host. As my first show, it has remained near and dear to my heart. That said, it had a few flaws that always bothered me: low audio levels and misplaced track markers for the first set, e.g., songs began with 30-70 seconds of tuning. For this version, I extracted (EAC secure mode) the show from my original CDRs and used Pyro 5 to both boost the levels by 20% and fix the track markers.

I emphasize that EVERY NOTE of music (except as noted below) has been preserved, from Jerry’s opening tune-ups leading into “Stranger” to the last cymbal crash of “IFTL”.
No songs are faded-in or faded out. Similarly, no space between songs has been altered whatsoever. For instance, the time between the last song and the encore is preserved, to the second, in its original format.

Furthur, no sonic enhancements of any sort (e.g., the “Bertha Remasters”) was done. Zero. None. Nil. You are hearing what Dick had in the Vault.

Flaws:
1) At D2T2 (“Lost Sailor”, there is a slight “lisp” or “bump” at about 8:04. I checked my originals, and that “bump” is there too.

2) Removed a huge flaw between “Drums” and “Space”. My originals had a very harsh splice between “Drums” and “Space”. I found that the last 15 or so seconds of “Drums” was duplicated at the beginning of “Space”, and by chopping off “Space”’s duplicated section, I could eliminate entirely the harsh splice, without compromising any music or data. So, spliced the two tracks seamlessly, then move the track marker to where “Space” begins – at least to my ears! I bet you can’t even find the splice…

3) The sources in circulation have another 2-4 minutes of information after “IFTL”. There is about 100 seconds of applause, then about 50 seconds of Peter Gabriel’s “Red Rain” is played as exit music. I have removed the applause and Mr. Gabriel’s wonderful song.
