Lineage: DK's unknown Sony Hi-8 Camera master > my VHS HiFi Stereo 1st Gen copy off master > capture from Sony SLV-N50 via Sony PC-133 camera > firewire > Sony DV vidcap 6.0 (.avi) > PowerProducer 3.2 (DVD chapters)

I got this VHS dub of my old buddy DK's Primus video. He told me the tale of why it's just the first 50 minutes of the show. He had 1 hour tapes, so at the tape flip break, he was, uh, requested to refrain from returning to his cameraman duties. His tapes were confiscated but for tape #1 that he just pulled out and put in his armpit and wasn't found by the insecurity dude. It's too bad he wasn't allowed to continue, as it would've been awesome. Still, what we have here is great!
There's a couple of tiny dropouts in the picture and one in the audio due to prolonged VHS playback. Sorry. Pretty good picture and sound. He used an external mic on the camera. DK is a good cameraman, especially for stuff like this - he's very tall. Lots of bouncing audience heads come and go, but that's what a Primus concert looks like, no? Great zooms and pans, considering how he's threatened to be swallowed by the mosh pit several times...

I transferred this to practice my DVD menu skills, and I wound up breaking the program I was using. I had a nice motion and sound menu all built for this, and the program crashed and corrupted itself. What we have here is un-menu-ed, but chaptered to the start of the songs, at least. I'm surprised the transfer came out as good as it did. I used to watch this tape a lot. I just got the cord to hook the vcr into the camera and into the computer so I thought I'd test it with something interesting. I'm very sorry the menus didn't turn out - I spent hours synching the sound with the thumbnail videos for the song selections. The computer crashed after 2 1/2 days of 'rendering' spinning it's not-working wheels. When it came back the menu and the ability to make new menus was gone.... That's what I get for "updating" haha

Included somewhere there should be some scans of DK's original photocopy cover artworx, suitable for DVD use now. If you make some cool "real" DVD artworx for this, please post it and share, and could you email me a copy too, please? Thanks. Hope you enjoy this new awesome little video my buddy shot.
