| Comment | The fourth in this 100% crucial series of BCT Tapes reissues. This disc is perhaps the best yet, compiling 50 songs from bands you have never heard of (except the ACCUSED and VATICAN COMMANDOS for the truly knowledgeable). Check this out: CLITBOYS, FUTURE RUINS, VIOLATION, SKOUNDRELS, MR. EPP, POISON CENTRE, EAT THE RICH and CULTURAL BREAKTHROUGH are all represented here, and there's not a single track that doesn't smoke. I could ramble for pages, but suffice to say these reissues are truly essential piece of punk history, one that was almost forgotten, but is thankfully being revived. (WN)
-MaximumRockNRoll When I first discovered that the best of BCT tape compilations were going to be re-released on CD (and some on vinyl), this is the one I was most excited to get. Not only because First Strike was one of my favorites from the series (you never forget your first time) but because the compilers have done an excellent job of picking the best from various BCT projects, merging them into what are essentially new compilations and sweetening the whole deal with a handful of gems that were not included on the original BCT releases because they were divided/buried on other obscure releases of the day or simply never released. It amazes me that most of the songs on this CD are still raging and extreme 20 years later when the ante for such things has been raised to heights inconceivable in the early 80's. Includes bands like CLITBOYS, VIOLATION, FUTURE RUINS, VATICAN COMMANDOS, MR. EPP, and EAT THE RICH. -Short Fast and Loud 10 |
