Comments: First night of EC&SW's three-night stand at Madison Square Garden. Upon listening to the source previously posted (link above), I felt that it might be worth posting my master. I'm not sure whether I'd definitively say that this source is "better," but I feel that the low end is better represented on this recording and on the whole it's a little clearer. I had a couple of very chatty neighbors who I later discovered had snuck into my section (they spotted two open seats closer to the stage about an hour into the concert, and upgraded their location much to the relief of everyone else in the section), but remarkably they are not too prominent on the recording. On the whole I was reasonably happy with this source, but am waiting anxiously like everyone else for Mid Valley to release uncirculated sources of all three nights. Compare the other version to the samples here - I thought I would share my master for those who would feel (as I do) that this one's a little more enjoyable. Much has been written about these shows, but I'll add my $.02. This was a great show -- vintage EC like we don't see very often. His playing was creative and intense, and his lengthy solos were a particular joy to listen to. I'm not a big Winwood fan so I can't compare to his "regular" shows, but he seemed to be enjoying himself and the solo/Traffic selections were good. The minimalist band was great considering that this is not a regular touring outfit. Hope you enjoy it. Feel free to remaster to your heart's content, but if you choose to post your version please document what you did. |
