J-Card Comment | radio bdct. using tape of recorded Bristol '95 concert with show compere, Robert Sandal, giving history of band and then interviewing Simon Jeffes thoughout the broadcast. In '94 & '95, the orchestra were touring with a "Concert Program", a fairly set list of "greatest hits". Its documented very well on the official cd release "Concert Program". this broadcast is from a later show, the following year. To tell you the truth, if you have the official release "Concert Program", you probably don't need this. The interviews, however, are pretty interesting. sound issues: while the bdct is normally grade A in sonic quality there are a few, brief instances of radio static where signal cuts out; mainly 4 secs total over the 2 discs. furthermore, on "Nothing Really Blue" and part of "Telephone & Rubber Band" there is a speed problem on the source tape. The speed wavers slightly and then the mis-alignment is fixed abruptly at 3:21 on "Telephone" (cd 2, track 1). This is very annoying and is a pity. The interviews have not been indexed separately from the music and are at the beginning of every other track, generally. also, cd 2 tracks #2 and #4 have medleys of tunes, played as one piece each ....so indexing separately wasn't advisable. |
