NoteFor my wife and I this was our 2nd SRV gig. We will never, ever forget after the great Beat Farmers opened (County Dick Montana who was usually on drums, all 6' 3" or so of him - ahead of the punk curve the whole history of San Diego doin' a hilarious zine then opening a small record shop and drumming for the Penetrators then doin' the Beat Farmers - puts a Bud long neck between his boots, flops down on his back, shoots his feet in the air and pours the beer all the way down drinking what splashed on his face). The stage was empty as we waited for SRV. It's evening. Still empty we hear a single guitar note. There's an audible gasp from the audience as we recognize it's the completely distinctive sound of Stevie. A moment my wife and I will remember forever.
