| Comment | Buddy Rich predictably devoted his Royal Variety Performance spot to the "West Side Story" feature, shortened to contain little more than the drum solo. Unless my possibly biased ears deceived me, the roar of approval that followed his dazzling display exceeded anything that had gone before. And it says much for Moira Anderson that, singing a Gilbert and Sullivan air, she managed to follow it without a great anti-climax.
