Note | This is actually an excellent audience recording for most of the show, but there is quite a bit of chatter that at times completely obscures the performance audio. The taper, or two guys standing right next to the taper, are way into the show, and they make very audible comments about how awesome it is throughout. The most severe disruptions occur during a couple of Mike's solos, when the two fans hoot and holler their approval. It's actually kind of cool to hear, since it's obvious this is their first time hearing the band (the first time most of the people present are hearing the band, actually) and you can track how they are being won over as the show goes on. If you can live with that, this is a very solid recording of one of the band's earliest gigs, and the historical value (debuts of future classics and the eternally rare Brother) is huge. As for the performance, it's clear from this recording that this band was on fire right from the start. Great, great show, and if you didn't look at the date, you'd never know these guys were only a few performances into their run. Highly recommended for serious fans; more casual listeners will probably want to stick with the numerous soundboard recordings from the Ten touring cycle that circulate. |
