Source Infosilver bootleg from 2 AUD masters
J-Card CommentPatti Smith December 30, 2001 Bowery Ballroom, New York City A somewhat rare Patti acoustic set! A version of the boot "You Haven't Gotten One Thing You Wanted," recorded on Patti's 55th birthday. At least two excellent AUD masters are extant and have contributed to the silvers of the boot, which have been cloned and remastered at various times for various "fix" reasons. This accounts for slightly different track list citations on artwork, at etree, etc., and 3 disc versions distributed in SHN and 2 disc version in FLAC. Yada, yada. Overall AUD quality is *QUITE* good, but there are occasionally small volume surges, minor noises, etc.. Hardly worth mentioning, IMO, but you should know. ************************** Background notes from http://www.bravenewworld.com/bowery/index.html: "Each year, in what has quietly become a wonderful tradition, Patti Smith plays a short run of shows in New York leading up to a two-night finale—her birthday on December 30 and New Year's Eve on December 31—at the Bowery Ballroom. 2001 would have been no different, except that three months earlier an act of madness changed a nation's skyline, a global city, Patti's neighborhood, and millions of lives forever. The year-end Bowery shows in 2001 capture Patti trying to make sense out of the incomprehensible in front of a home town audience still shocked and grieving. These shows are pure rock-and-roll power. If you are one of the many people who have never really listened to Patti Smith, these shows are a great introduction. If you are already a fan, these shows will quickly jump to the top of your must-play list." ************************** Setlist: Disc One 64:57 *Acoustic Set* 01 December 2:48 02 My Blakean Year (proto) reading 6:31 03 Climbing Boy 6:10 04 One Voice* 4:57 05 Gonna Do It 4:04 06 Come Back Little Sheba** 4:11 07 The Jackson Song*** 5:37 08 Frederick 4:10 09 //Ginsberg reading**** 4:04 10 Happy Birthday (crowd only) 1:03 *Electric Set* 11 Ask The Angels 4:30 12 Gone Pie 4:17 13 Dead City 5:06 14 Don't Say Nothing 7:31 *w/Jay Dee on acoustic guitar **w/Lenny ***w/Tony on keyboard ****Allen Ginsberg's "On Cremation Of Chogyam Trungpa, Vidyadhara" in "Cosmopolitan Greetings: Poems, 1986-1992," from unreleased Steven Sebring documentary footage played at the end of intermission, prior to the second set. I sincerely apologize, it turns out I had some stuff to learn at the time. All the non-FLAC files are changed; the artwork is new.) SQ: Excellent, I rate it "A" Lineage: Digital audience recording of otherwise unknown lineage, CDRs I received by mail>EAC>Sound Forge>FLAC(level 8) More technical notes from Coyote: I got it on 3 discs, but it's now on 2 discs. d1t9 starts with a cut. d2t5@5:28.341 I spliced together the change between the old discs 2 and 3; there was almost no overlap, and what overlap there was, was faded. Graphics notes: Artwork included (and also attached to Comments); many thanks to G. The Cock for creating the very cool artwork! The inside-front cover is from a drawing by Jen May on the artwork for the 3-disc version at http://www.bravenewworld.com/bowery/inserts_patti_birthday.html
