Note | University of Oklahoma. 8th May 1970 (2nd show)
This has to be one of the best audience recordings from Jim's 1970 American tour but sadly it probably will never see the light of day as a Dagger release although in my humble opinion it should be strong candidate. A cracker of a concert from start to finish, it has spell binding versions of Red House and Hear My Train A Comin'. The version of Machine Gun here is an absolute killer. The more familiar version on the Band Of Gypsys album was just a rehearsal for this. Notes There are a couple of dropouts at the start of the show. These could be fixed but this is the raw, unedited source straight from the master reel. Details of how this show was rediscovered in 1996 are included in the booklet. The booklet features the only known colour photos from the show. Cover and booklet with history of the show included. Tracks 1. Fire 2. Spanish Castle Magic 3. Machine Gun 4. Lover Man 5. Foxy Lady 6. Hear My Train A Comin' 7. Message To Love 8. Red House 9. Star Spangled Banner 10. Purple Haze 11. Voodoo Chile (slight return) Details Master reel > DAT > CDR > Soundstudio > Shorten >shtn(Audience recording) 379 MB ************************** Do not encode to MP3 ************************** Pass It On. |
