Note | Tim Maze put on tons of great punk shows in San Diego in the 80's. Some of us punx thought we'd get together and try to put on a few shows for cheaper than he did. He'd do like $7, $8. We, United Front, put this on for $6.50. We did about 3 shows and our little cooperative of about 15-20 punx faded off. Tim went on to become co-owner of the Casbah and he's since had innumerable great bands play in town there. Great stuff man. Thanks Tim. |

In the early 80's Tim Maze put on probably over 10 to 20 punk gigs per year in San Diego. In 1984 a group of us punx called ourselves United Front and tried to put on a few shows for cheaper than he was. It was a cooperative effort and we only pulled off about 3 shows. This was one of them. I think we charged $6. instead of his going rate of about $8 back then. He went on to co own and run the Casbah, one of the finest small showcases for nationally touring acts rock to punk over since about the late 80's or early 90's. The rest of us punx just got old and got jobs and go to some of the great shows at the Casbah where occasionally it's old punk night depending on the old touring punk band. Don't know if Youth Brigade ever played the Casbah. |
