NoteA chilling, but historic, media document. My copy, sadly, is TAO, and the track breaks occur every six minutes or so. There are a couple of irregularities in the sequencing, too, which I can easily fix when I burn this. On disc 2, the first track should actually be the last, and on disc 3 the last track should actually be the first. On disc 4, the last track should be first, and on disc 5, the last three tracks should be the first three. This is easy to fix. For the morbidly curious, Howard first mentions a "fire" at the WTC Disc 3, track 1. However, Disc 3, track 3 is when the information really starts coming in (right after the second plane hits). From that point on, the show takes a decidely different turn. Say what you will about Howard, but the way he conducts his show in light of the events is remarkable. The rest of the broadcast is mostly reactions from Howard and his staff, and calls from associates and listeners describing their first-hand accounts of the goings-on as they unfold. It's probably a bit sick to relive something like this, but this is a harrowing and engrossing listen. This captures both the best and worst of humanity as New York reacts to the attack (one caller even says that the American people need to band together and go into the businesses owned by "those towelheads" with baseball bats. Scary.) This isn't for everyone, obviously, but as a piece of history, it doesn't get much more vivid than this. The TAO doesn't spoil it, either.
