Comment | (1)= w/ out Jerry Garcia. Also many copies don't contain the encore. The Band is-Jerry Garcia, Howard Wales, Jim Vincent, Jerry Love & Roger Troy(aka Jellyroll) This setlist comes from Deadbase and recordings have circulated with it for 20+ years. Some comments on the actual song titles below. Given the historical use of this setlist, no changes to the the circulating tracklist have been made above. Yet . . . . t01 - Southside Strut -> t02 - Up From The Desert -> wrong title: it's not "Up From the Desert" (from Hooterroll), it's some other untitled song. t03 - One A.M. Approach -> Come on Baby -> Jam -> Outer Space Regions -> "One AM Approach" is the slow mellow song with Wales on electric piano (from Hooteroll). Dunno what's up with "Come On Baby/Jam/Outer Space Regions." imho this should just be labeled One AM Approach -> t04 - Carry Me Back -> dunno where this title comes from, sounds like it's from the lyrics that Jellyroll sings, which I think are half-improvised t05 - Jellyroll's Jam -> aka bass solo t06 - Get Funky Brother -> title? Jellyroll yells "get funky, drummer!" but I don't know what the song is. t07 - A Trip To What Next -> wrong title: "A Trip to What Next" is a tune on the Hooterroll LP (but not on the CD reissue for some reason), but that's not what this is: it's an organ solo by Wales and sounds fully improvised. t08 - Would You Leave Me -> wrong title: this is called "My Blues" which Wales released as a 45. It's on youtube. t09 - Wale's Boogie dunno about the title, but it will do. t10 - band intros by Garcia t11 - Get Down Mama * t12 - DC 502 -> * wrong title: this is called "Huxley's Howl" which is another Wales 45 release (not on Hooterroll), also on youtube. t13 - Drums -> t14 - DC 502 * basically just the end of the Huxley's Howl jam, although they don't play the melody again t15 - Sweet Little Angel -> t16 - Sweet Cocaine -> t17 - Let It Shine fwiw, t15-17 are all basically the same song: Jellyroll is singing bits and pieces of different blues songs over the same basic tune. t18 - Fighting for Madge -> "Fighting for Madge" is a cut from Fleetwood Mac's Then Play On album, and it sounds similar to this, but it's loose enough that I don't think this is actually a "cover." I think the resemblance is coincidental. The track starts pretty loose, then starts to sound like the actual tune "DC 502" from Hooterroll, though it's all pretty jammy. t19 - Hey Bo Diddley -> t19-20 are the same jam as t18: Jellyroll starts singing bits of Bo Diddley lyrics over the groove. t20 - You Can't Judge a Book by its Cover t21 - encore break t22 - Gypsy Woman |
