Comment | Sinatra's CBS radio program, sponsored by Vimms Vitamins, aired for only six months, January through June 1944. Sinatra is the DJ, introducing hits on the charts, but he also performs a couple of songs on each episode. Although he was under contract to Columbia at the time, these songs are different versions from his Columbia recordings. Whether the program was pre-recorded or aired live has not been determined, but the public domain label Vintage Jazz gathered Sinatra's songs from transcription platters and released them on "THE UNHEARD SINATRA VOL. 2: THE HOUSE I LIVE IN" now out of print. Talk of World War 2 and Invasion Day at Normandy are all over these episodes, dating them to late May and early June 1944. "This is an historic time" announces Sinatra at the beginning, and these are 25 historic tracks. |
