Beck was the surprise special guest at Yahoo! Hackday, the best of which I can tell, was some corporate seminar/meeting. At the end of Friday, there was scheduled entertainment. Nobody knew who the special guest was until people at Hackday started uploading pictures of Beck's equipment and gear to Flickr. This was a really high-energy set--just look at the first eight songs! Total party atmosphere. Beck even tossed in some more unplanned high-energy stuff (like "Minus") as the crowd was really into it, moshing and having a blast. Not much of the new album was played, probably because it was a private gig and the album wasn't released yet.; Beck was much more talkative at this show than he has been on stage lately.; Acoustic "Debra" has never been my favorite thing, but this one is terrific. Beck even references "Yahoo chicken."; |
