NoteCrackling stronger on some songs than others, not sure if it's from vinyl crackling or digital. None on the Boston mayor's plea the day after MLK Jr. was killed and the ensuing JB song interrupted by audience menbers as James settles them down.

About 1975 or so I saw his show live in San Diego at the Community Concorse. Me and my date were 2 of the 6 non black folks there. It was one of the great shows to see and I'm sure glad I did. Total showman, tight horns. What was funny is I noticed he kept building us up, 'I'm gonna take ya higher!' and at some point later in the show we were goin' down the hill. Pure showmanship.
