Bill Evans - saxophones Mike Stern - guitar Marcus Miller - bass Al Foster - drums Minu Cinelu - percussion Comments: "That band was perhaps the most talented of all of his bands of the decade. This show is from an uncirculated master audience tape and sounds pretty good considering the size of the venue and inattentiveness of the crowd. Miles actually was the first act with Spyro Gyra following so many weren't there for the Prince of Darkness. The sound starts a bit thin but fills out as the set evolves. The tape has that Red Rocks sound which you will recognize if you've ever been there. It's a massive amphitheater carved into the red rocks in the foothills outside Denver. The seating is nestled in between two towering red pillars of rock which reflect the sound back into the audience. At night you can see the lights of Denver twinkling in the distance. It's a unique place to see a concert. Play this show loud and annoy your neighbors. It's an excellent summer show" (attributed to rlouk). |
