| Set 1 | Bill Evans Trio September 10, 1980 (The Last Date) Fat Tuesdays New York, NY Recorded live at Fat Tuesdays, NYC, Wednesday, September 10, 1980. Bill Evans died on Monday, September 15, 1980. This was the first night of a five night engagement. Bill called in sick on the second night and Andy LaVerne was called by the club manager to fill in for him. This is from a tape of unknown origin and is poor quality, probably a small cassette recorder placed on the floor of the bandstand with automatic gain control. The tape is very bass heavy and boomy. The order of tunes was edited by someone. This is not the original order. This set list is from a discography-I have not matched it to the CD. (CD is only 2 long tracks) 1.My Foolish Heart 2.Letter to Evan 3.Polka Dots and Moonbeams 4.Like Someone in Love 5.Your Story 6.Tiffany 7.Time Remembered 8.Turn out the Stars 9.If You could see me now Bill Evans-p, Marc Johnson-b, Joe LaBarbera-d Note: This recording does NOT sound like a "poor quality recording made with a tape recorder placed on the floor." Both the piano and bass appear to be in excellent quality, however the drums are mostly hidden. This sounds like a Soundboard recording to me, or at the very least "stage mics" were used. Also, it appears that two sets were played on this date, this seems to be only one of the sets (which set is it? Nobody knows). The Bill Evans Discography lists the following songs being played on this date (a few songs twice, which would dictate that there were two seperate sets played.
