The tape was very old and had numerous minor problems. There's a low-level "bump" noise throughout, which sounds like a reel malfunction. It's only noticeable in the spaces between songs. There were many small drop-outs, some of which I was able to repair with Soundforge. There is noticeable tape damage in a few spots: the final 25 seconds of Me & My Uncle, the first 3 seconds of Sugaree, the first 5 seconds of Looks Like Rain, and from 1:57 to 2:01 of China Cat. Split the tracks with CD-Wave, verified SBE-OK with Trader's Little Helper, and lossless compression with FLAC Frontend. |
