Note | Frustratingly, even though Dan Hicks was apparently from San Diego (but they did their music in S.F.) I always missed them when they played like the Belly Up (north S.D. County). I'd see the show listed in the weekly Reader like 2 days after they played. Happened maybe 5 times over the years. I finally saw them about early 07. Even tho 35 years had passed it was still A) Dan Hicks & His Hot Licks B) humerous, tight, swingin' and fun. Real glad I got to see them. You could see Dan was the heart of the band. Makes all the difference having the Hot Licks. |
