St Peters Church NYC June 27 1985 Aud>Marantz PMD340>cass>Peak>Xact>shn George Cartwright Reeds Tom Cora Cello Fred Frith Bass Pippin Barnett Drums For a brief moment in the mid 80's it almost seemed like the underground might starting getting mainstream gigs..... this concert was part of the 1985 Kool Jazz Festival!!. St Peters(also known as The Jazzman's church) is a cavernous wooden hall, so there is a lot of natural reverb on this recording, but otherwise this is an excellent recording direct from the master tape. This is also a one-time line-up as guitarist Davey Williams went missing and they played this gig as a quartet. |
