Tech Note | Hello Andree, I'm still looking for the photos from the Heatwave Festival, but they're not in any of my folios and after 25 years(Has it been that long?) I'll have to keep searching.Hmmm....the last place I remember seeing them was at my Mum's house,I'll ask her to have a look too. Got a chance to listen to the show and was pleasantly surprised at the sound quality and the vitality of the performance. They sound just as good as they did that day.It brought back so many memories. I don't know if it comes across on the recording, but it truly was a special event.Remember it was 1980,a month and a half before "Remain in Light" was released. No one expected this from the Heads. At one point during the show,I turned around to see the entire audience was a bobbing, dancing mass. They did have the advantage of playing in the magic twilight hours of a long hot Autumn day, when the air started to cool and the stage lighting was starting to take on it's full effect.I was not lying when I said they blew the crowd away. Elvis Costello had the unenviable task of following the Heads. And if I remember correctly,He did a masterful job.I Think he started w/"Shot with his own Gun" and progressively increased the tempo and intensity of the songs to "Pump it Up & Mystery Dance" and did quite a few encores. He kept holding a finger up and mouthed the question "One More?" to an entusiastic response. I can't thank you enough for posting this show as now I have another keepsake for this memorable day.Sorry if I rambled on a bit. BTW,it was awesome to see the original line-ups of the Pretenders & B-52's |
