SET showcases a wide range of artists from those pushing the boundaries of jazz, pop and classical composition, to makers of unusual and beautiful new instruments. SET will feature nine programs throughout May, July and August. Tonight on SET we feature The Necks, one of Australia's great cult bands. Forming The Necks, Chris Abrahams (piano), Tony Buck (drums), and Lloyd Swanton (bass) conjure a chemistry that is difficult to describe in orthodox terms. Featuring lengthy pieces which slowly unravel in the most intoxicating fashion, frequently underpinned by an insistent deep groove. The deceptive simplicity of their music throws forth new charms on each hearing. Not entirely avant-garde, minimalist, ambient, or jazzy, the music of The Necks are undisputedly unique in the world today".
