I used EAC to extract, no errors reported. I figured this was safer than another transfer off such an old DAT. I have listened to my CD 100 times and I know it is clean. AUD: I received the SHN's via mail trade. SHN's were decoded to wave. Wavmerge used to reassemble the tracks back to 1 long wave. CEP2.0 was used to align & synch both of the sources. SF8.0 was used for noise reduction and EQ of the AUD source. CEP2.0 used to perform the multitrack mixdown. This is a 70% SBD, 30% AUD mix. - Mixed by dan@am-dig.com - FLAC conversion done 02-JUNE-2006 - Artwork at 300dpi by dan@am-dig.com - For best results print at the highest resolution onto glossy photo paper. Design for use in a clear single jewel case. --------------------------------------------------------- Notes DO NOT let any of the edits dissuade you from checking this out. The final result is a good listen and has excellent sound. Even though there were multiple edits (cuts) on both the SBD and the AUD recordings this version will play for you complete and seamless from start to finish as if there were no cuts or edits whatsoever. The SBD source is excellent with great dynamics and nice frequency range not usually associated with a FM broadcast. Without any info I would have guessed the source was SBD or Pre-FM. The "Live Nirvana Guide" (an excellent resource) does list this as a post-FM copy. There is no DJ talking but in light of the numerous edits on the SBD source it is likely that all DJ comments may have been editing out prior to the bootleg 'XXII II MCMXCIV'. The AUD is very rough. Distant and muddy with an audible hiss. The speed remains relatively consistent throughout with few fluctuations, so I do believe it is in fact from a master recording. The AUD was too rough to mix with the SBD copy without performing some minor DSP. I applied some noise redux (with a very light hand) and then added some D'EQing. In the end I think this matrix will add some additional depth while simultaneously maintaining the clarity and dynamics of the SBD source. Giving the listener great sound with additional life (i.e. crowd interaction) that is closer to how it sounded that night. --------------------------------------------------------- Edits Track 7 During the crowd cheer between "Sliver" and "Dumb" the SBD was missing approx. 21.701 seconds. The AUD was trimmed to match with a few edits (fades, volume adjustments and cross- fades). These edits are smooth and most likely undetectable. Track 10 During the crowd cheer between "About A Girl" and "Lithium" the SBD was missing approx. 9.044 seconds. The AUD was trimmed to match with a few edits (fades, volume adjustments and crossfades). These edits are smooth and most likely undetectable. Track 13 Tape flip on AUD source resulted in a cut at the start of "School". Missing approx. 5.014 seconds. For the rear channel I made a small patch using matrix mix of the SBD source and a different portion of the AUD recording that contained just crowd noise. This "matrix mix patch" was inserted into the AUD with a few edits (fades, volume adjustments and crossfades). These edits are smooth and most likely undetectable. Track 13 The last 1.304 seconds of "School" was missing on the SBD source. The AUD and the SBD both received several creative edits to make a smooth flow to the after the song crowd cheer. These edits are smooth and most likely undetectable. Track 13 During the crowd cheer between "School" and "Polly" the SBD was missing approx. 33.408 seconds. The AUD was trimmed to match with a few edits (fades, volume adjustments and cross- fades). These edits are smooth and most likely undetectable. Track 18 During the crowd cheer between "Territorial Pissings" and "All Apologies" the SBD was missing at least 1 min 23.470 seconds. The exact amount is unknown as the AUD tape was also missing some crowd cheer. This appears to have been the encore break. The AUD was trimmed to match with a few edits (fades, volume adjustments and crossfades). These edits are smooth and most likely undetectable. Track 19 During the crowd cheer between "All Apologies" and "On A Plain" the SBD was missing approx. 25.943 seconds. The AUD was trimmed to match with a few edits (fades, volume adjustments and crossfades). These edits are smooth and most likely undetectable. Track 21 During the crowd cheer between "Scentless Apprentice" and "Heart-Shaped Box" the SBD was missing approx. 17.216 seconds. The AUD was trimmed to match with a few edits (fades, volume adjustments and crossfades). These edits are smooth and most likely undetectable. This project was originally started more than 2 years ago and contains well over 100 hours of editing and sound engineering. After frustratingly slow progress and giving up on the project several times I am happy to finally put this one to rest. The project was in part made possible by a new technique employed where I actually mapped out the AUD source. This was critical in synching both sources. Visually the AUD source did not give me much to work with. It is also very likely the source was made from quite a distance as the high hat and bass drum traveled to the Microphone used in the AUD recording at quite different speeds. --------------------------------------------------------- FLAC fingerprint nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t01.flac:f1b2f926354d1af366000d6870fa1dab nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t02.flac:20cb274d4e8044b2c9dbc729790e2619 nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t03.flac:af501d6d24c919139ea25f025eb3f2b0 nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t04.flac:00588d9b0495ebaba28fc050c7a83b6c nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t05.flac:3f2cf803999255ff7ede9c91eae1f500 nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t06.flac:06f4f8e38ebbbb875a9a0db25bc5413e nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t07.flac:3f8c6391d3fadcb9907f3f0a1a5a30f0 nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t08.flac:3b3fed34bf720bc34e989731fd63deff nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t09.flac:4dd0a4798d109a9cef9e2650f2313dc6 nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t10.flac:b47529c0f6700095d556fb7f9868924d nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t11.flac:974b74edb63939007f0cf03f071ad2a4 nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t12.flac:3055d8cdcba4d83e329972208aac7797 nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t13.flac:4248b61c859459ea0a94b3d6aec47bfd nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t14.flac:6c4cc03ba7f7a96929b6962175b517a9 nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t15.flac:f62ef791f7abe44b7eb82bc97946cdc4 nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t16.flac:e134cd42ed991fcb32ed017a078674f4 nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t17.flac:27193e73064d8a1e4764a8b20931cc8c nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t18.flac:58b83d7222524aefd7fe2c29546166aa nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t19.flac:9a1c3c6ff7db5cbfbb554476d913db08 nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t20.flac:2a6c49fdf2e48c40410b7d39f07cda9a nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t21.flac:18973d53b1c9044e2ab4a35e195638a3 nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t22.flac:c5b878f782e273d0ac6ea508cd9ae3c0 nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t23.flac:a26224a1d7c469ccab2e33ab7bbc0f21 --------------------------------------------------------- MD5 a66b7d97bb0b186de79da7ad446cb31d *nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t01.flac d49e59280d236d829dcb031ba9ad0b0a *nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t02.flac e9bd03a3cd6a1eafa66bfd899a660365 *nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t03.flac d4626d0e53bb44e33a7e5f9cb148841b *nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t04.flac f16e853c16cc454c18997ac8d5ba2c27 *nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t05.flac 914cd54eef551517a4cc3f8d8cfb6873 *nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t06.flac e8beb6bde8b218c6210b6f08d670ae6c *nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t07.flac eb472b8a4252377f94b86109c622ae30 *nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t08.flac a11a05cbd1095d76bcbacc10dfaedd24 *nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t09.flac df0b141fe07abf0f8472cfead802d160 *nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t10.flac 31ddd8987e71f693e6d059f58818f74b *nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t11.flac 8a0f4492a6d4f6aeb49ca762086cc4f3 *nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t12.flac b5b1bd5d9c7ec3bed0ac5457061ceb66 *nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t13.flac 4cb739cbb5f85e7b38a06d579fca7a73 *nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t14.flac 64615ed88d5d58cb87f3ac97b460ffaa *nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t15.flac 68f699b7d9973974ec16bdb8bc0493ef *nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t16.flac c928b451b3cf335ebb8e545382526d65 *nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t17.flac 0a6f1b5f089f05148b59b6b78638e7d6 *nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t18.flac 063c46855ba720108db1ca3b96b4280d *nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t19.flac 07b6bb650ce958daea9519ff6d2cefbe *nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t20.flac 6be62f3cd8132b18bd9b680330542bb7 *nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t21.flac 9d63b3c91b2cf484d7515f86de2777ad *nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t22.flac 5316889e31103b5d0c78d7397483fce6 *nirvana1994-02-22-mtx-haugh-t23.flac
