| Comment | The third annual gala of the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame was held on February 5th, 2006 and televised a day later by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). This excerpt is the part of the show dedicated to the induction of Leonard Cohen into the Hall of Fame. It is hosted by Andrew Craig and contains live performances by Rufus Wainwright (Everybody Knows), Willie Nelson (Bird on the Wire) and kd lang (Hallelujah).
Most importantly, however, this is Cohen's first TV appearance in more than ten years! Moved to tears by the reception, he walks on stage to be handed the award from former Governor General Adrienne Clarkson and gives the most beautiful acceptance speech. |
