| Comment | This appears to be the master sessions for the unreleased "Feeler" LP. These versions are properly mixed and mastered, and could have easily been released. It's not clear why the record never saw the light of day, but the material on here is easily on par with the other formal releases from this magnificent band. Of these sessions, only a live version of ATF was ever officially released (it appeared on the band's Live From Paradise disc). Coupling this with the material on the "Feeler" demos disc (??/02/39), it's interesting to note that this version has none of the songs that eventually came out on the Hell Below/Stars Above LP, while the demos have an abundance of that material. It's possible that the band recorded these songs at the same time as the material that ended up on HB/SA, and whittled the bulk down into a tidy 12-song disc. Whomever started circulating this may have simply taken the master sessions and omitted the songs that officially came out on HB/SA. In any case, this is a very awesome collection of tunes from a band who were criminally underappreciated in their time. The fact that their label slept on putting this material out is further proof of the rampant idiocy that is the music industry. |
