Tech NoteA few little crackles and pops here and there, but these are nearly 40 year old albums! Slight hiccup @1:24 on "Dupree's" Anthem of the Sun Released July 18, 1968 Remixed September 1971 1.That's It for the Other One > 2.New Potatoe Caboose 3.Born Cross-Eyed 4.Alligator > 5.Caution (Do Not Stop On Tracks) The Story: This is the version of Anthem of the Sun that was remixed in 1971. It is the version on all subsequent LPs and cassettes. When Warner Brothers put out Anthem on CD, they remastered and released the original mix of the album, which is much sloppier and is missing much of what we liked about the remix and is generally considered to be less desirable. The Golden Road box set contains another remaster of the original mix, so the remix is now out of print. Aoxomoxoa Released June 20, 1969 1.Saint Stephen 2.Dupree's Diamond Blues 3.Rosemary 4.Doin' That Rag 5.Mountains of the Moon 6.China Cat Sunflower 7.What's Become of the Baby? 8.Cosmic Charlie The Story: This is the original mix of Aoxomoxoa. In September 1971 it was remixed and that is the version that is on every copy since - LPs, cassettes, CDs. As far as anyone knows, the original master tapes no longer exist, which is a tragedy because the original mix is generally considered to be superior. This original mix is most definitely out of print.
