Comment | Note: *Last three songs are live in studio with just DGQ. Thailand cuts.
Note: Kurt Asplundh:"It is definitely from Osaka, but I'm not convinced the date is accurate. The disc opens with two tunes that are the DGQ w/Greene & Keith. Then two encores and that's the end of the show. The bulk of the disc (about 10 tracks or so) is an opening set by this five piece band: Grisman, Rice, Greene, Keith w/Todd Phillips on bass. Phillips on bass is what makes me doubt the date. He was in the DGQ from the start but as far as I know had only a short stint of bass playing (78-79?). Now maybe he just played bass on that set and plays 2nd mando with the Quintet. The music....is reminiscent of the Rounder Album and Something Old...The sound quality is not very good, but to my ears is very listenable and the music/noise quotient is still VERY high. But it is not reference quality." |
