J-Card Comment | Excellent show set against the backdrop of Chicago's first World Series since 1959. The recording really showcases how the guys in the band are trying to watch the game at the same time as playing--the tension on the TV screen at the bar really brought out great playing especially on Wreck of the New Orleans and Grandpa's Groove. One great moment was when Jay Stanek changed the words to the traditional song Cuckoo to be "I bet you $10, the White Sox win this game." Because it's a SBD, you can't hear the crowds reaction, but it got really loud. Of course the Sox pulled it out in the 14th inning shortly after the band finished its set. |
