| J-Card Comment | his is an AUDIENCE recording I got in a trade several years ago and I'm afraid I don't know the lineage of it. I think its a great early show. Patti is very talkative and loose. The quality is so-so. I would probably rate it about a 6 or 6.5 going up to 7 or 7.5 sometimes. The beginning of Birdland is cut off and there is another cut in Birdland as well (its 4min. +). For most of the tape Patti's vocals are crisp and clear, way out in front of the band, but the band is a bit muffled. Around the "Days of Slavery" there appear dropouts that lead to muffled spots on the tape. OK, so now that the flaws are described, I would still highly recommend this show. Patti is in rare form and Land>>GLoria is just wild. Patti's right on the edge during land and having a hard time, but it turns into something really great. Also Fred "Sonic" Smith plays on the My Generation encore. This was the day that Patti met Fred for the first time. |
