Notefrom notes:
The Tyrone's show was the first ever R.E.M. bootleg to be released and was recorded from the soundboard on the club's 4 track recorder, hence the remarkable excellence of the sound quality. However, it does suffer from some fluctuations in volume and frequency levels most noticeably on "Steppin' Stone" and "Permanent Vacation" but the energy of the performance is what counts and this show captures those early garage days wonderfully.

The Wuxtry Records tracks are taken from a pre-show practice session recorded on video by Dan Watts on the afternoon of the band's Atlanta debut at The Warehouse. This is the earliest known recording of R.E.M. just 2 months and 1 day after their first ever gig, and is sourced from the video so it's very rough and compressed. It has been processed through Soundforge to improve the stereo image in terms of balance, volume and EQ. It hasn't been de-noised because that would eliminate what little top end exists so there is noticable hiss. Only mid-range and top end frequencies have been processed so the vocals and guitar are now legible. This is as good as I could get it folks, believe me the source sounds like thick mud in a wind tunnel.
In terms of historical importance both of these recordings are as Mr.Stipe would say "a must".
