(by Bill Giles) Re-SHN by ret: 2003-09-10 ========================================================== Notes by ret: When I received this show all the tracks passed the md5 check, but shntool reported sbe's on every track. I joined the tracks together using Cool Edit Pro. Then re-tracked the whole show using CDWAV. Shntool confirmed that all the tracks were cut on sector boundaries. I had sent a copy of the early show to Bill Giles, to see if he could improve the sound of d1t02 (Me & My Uncle). I substituted his improved version for the one I had received. No other change was made to the version seeded by Mike Lai. Here are Bill's notes: "I've played with this. Problem is stoned man on vol and pan controls - Weir's guitar which is the main offender in the variable volume stakes moves from right to left early on, then gets cranked up during Garcia's solo and at various other points..... So I've done what I can to moderate the extremes of channel volume fluctuations, but I've left Weir's guitar still quite high in the mix, as that seems more faithful to this recording. Given that Weir seems to speed up the tempo during the song, one can assume that he was playing with extra bounce :)) "
