Interesting that he never left the stage for an encore, he just asked if we would mind if he played for a bit longer. He had two of his young sons come out about half way through the show and play with him. Ruth Eckerd Hall is a wonderful venue in Clearwater, Florida. The acoustics are incredible,so it's almost impossible to pull a bad recording out of this place...it all depends on the crowd. They were pretty good this night...besides some kids attending with their folks, I think I was the youngest person there...I'm 37 years old !! Anyway, a great show, with some interesting songs choices (strange he played very little from recent releases) but played some covers as well as some older tracks. I know he doesn't change his setlist too much, but I was thrilled to hear him play a few tracks from his "Teatro" release. Ruth Eckerd Hall was celebrating their 20th anniversery with Willie. He played both Feb 9th & 10th, but I only attended on the ninth. Very curious how he changed the setlist for the next night. You'll here me fumble with the mic during the intro, but it's all set by the time he stars singing. I was trying to get my levels right for Willie Nelson, and just let it roll. I'm not familiar with his music, but he did a nice acoustic set. |
