| Note | Bembeya Jazz are living legends of African music. Formed in 1961, they mixed popular Cuban and Congolese rhumba with Guinean traditional styles. Guitarists echoed the fluid melodies of the kora, horn sections harmonised ancient airs, singers affected the vocal dynamics of the griots to produce a cracking dance sound called Manding Swing. |
