Stranger Blues Notes: Disc One January 30, 1970 Disc Two February 1, 1970 Maybe these dates are correct. But the Feb 1 show here has the same set list as the show that circulates as the 31st. That tape if the same is more complete with the addition of another track Tiger before Twist and Shout. That would have needed a 3rd disc to include on this piece. The Grateful Dead were busted on January 31. According to the Warehouse poster (included in inserts folder) the show dates were January 30 and January 31. The proceeds from another show with The Flock, Fleetwood Mac and The Grateful Dead on February 1 were donated to a bust fund according to one source. But the Fleetwood Mac site doesn't list a show on the Feb 1. Peter Green sat in with Dead at this show on Lovelight. It could have been that the 31st show was the benefit show which was just The Flock and Fleetwood Mac. According to the same source the Warehouse was surrounded by police all three nights, but that didn't stop some fearless and reckless insider from dispensing a large amount of LSD to the crowds on hand and, in the words of Rolling Stone, "the bands blew the lid off the house." |
