Comment | Here is a review by Hal Broome:
Well, okay, it wasn't millions of bodies naked in dirt, but that's alright, there was a sense of what must have made the original event of Woodstock special . . . the Crosby/Nash/Lesh set was definitely the highlight of the evening for me, as I love Crosby's first solo album. The sound was there, the people were there, and Jeff Pevar's guitar capped it off. Kantner's set had its highlight with Crosby singing on "Have you Seen the Stars Tonight" (he helped Paul write that). Mangano graced us with some strong female vocals (I've seen her with Paul a couple of times; once at the I-Beam and another time at Great American Music Hall). She must be one of the many female vocalists on the upcoming Starship album that is currently being recorded in Florida. Disappointing that Jorma and Paul sort of avoided each other on stage; as it was, the Hot Tuna set smoked, but of course that goes without saying. Wavy Gravy was in good form, and acknowledged another Jorma guitar camp at Camp Winnarainbow this summer. All in all, a pleasant, comfortable auditorium, a tranquil crowd, and some special music. Too bad about the $8 parking charge 8'/. hal Source: http://www.math.ufl.edu/~jaz/Hal/seva |
