| Set 2 | Comments: For the first half of the show (up to Never Let You Out) I stood in first row just in front of Snah. Although the high end overpowers a bit, this part of the recording is very detailed and should be a dream for any Snah-fan. During Never Let You Out some idiot threw two beers at me, soaking both me and my mic. The moshing and the throwing of beers made me change position, so the following couple of songs have varying sound. For Glow I finally found a nice position again which I kept for the rest of the show.
Highlights: The amazing Go To California (the longest known version), the very good and heavy Superstooge, and everything from Glow and out. This is another amazing Halden show, and one of the best shows of the 2001 Phanerothyme tour. Alex says:: it is amazing how good this year's recordings turned out. no matter if the CSB mics were involved or not, the quality is amazing. this is a good example. the sound is just great & it even seems to have more bass (check out the beginning of "glow"!) than anders' recordings usually have. the performance is already more continental than the other norwegian shows (both trondheims didn't do that much for me!). the opening with "watersound" is a dream & the next 40 min are pure rock-jamming. the first "drug thing" since 1998 is perfect & the jazzy encore ("pppp" > "trane" > "best friend" = 30 min) is an improvisation highlight! halden seems to be a really cool place to see MP! :) |
