Tech NoteFor your viewing pleasure, this is a BRAND NEW SEED of a fully remastered, reworked, gorgeous video of the Grateful Dead's set from the "Laughter Love and Music" memorial for Bill Graham, Steve and Melissa.THE STORY BEHIND THIS VIDEO: Back in 1991 a good friend's dad worked for a San Francisco TV station. Soon after this event, we visited the studio to seek out and copy cool video. We found a VHS HiFi tape from the recent "Laughter Love and Music" show; we were told that they recorded the satellite feed to "broadcast tape" (whatever that means) and then made a VHS HiFi version for people to watch. I dubbed that tape.Recently I saw VCDs and DVDs of this show circulating, synched to Pre-FM audio but with a schwaggy high generation video source. Knowing I had a much better tape just sitting in a cabinet at home, I set out to get a new DVD done right. The tape does nobody any good in my cabinet...I put out the word on a bunch of lists looking for someone with the time, talent, and interest to do the job right. Steve Murphy stepped up, putting some serious work into this one. He tracked down a new DSBD audio source, as well as a sweet FOB Neumann's tape. Had the DSBD remastered via the famed "Bertha" workstation and then created a SWEET new matrix mix. There were some significant flaws in the original VHS tape, but Steve worked some serious magic and they're gone for the DVD.The results are simply stunning.
