J-Card Comment | In February of 1990, prior to kicking off the Journeyman World Tour, Eric Clapton played a record breaking 18 nights at London's Royal Albert Hall. And, for the first time, he performed with four different ensembles throughout the engagement: a four-piece band, a nine-piece band, a blues band, and with the National Philharmonic Orchestra (conducted by the late Michael Kamen). This recording is the complete BBC broadcast of the final night of the 18-night stand. The sound quality is spectacular and the musicianship is top rate. While not every number works all that well with the orchestra, some of the material really shines. Unique to the orchestral performances is the Concerto for Electric Guitar (in two movements). |
