Note | Review:
Despite all of its' flaws, this is a nice CD to own. The appeal stems mainly from the fact that this was one of the first Boot CDs to hit the market. It was recorded from a very clean sounding vinyl LP called 'Newport'65'. The package and overall aesthetics are a joke, although the original drawing of Dylan on the front is very good. It's taken from a 1974 black and white photo by Fred McDarrah. Everything is direct from the soundboard, and considering the dates, amazing quality. The songs are listed out of order on the package. The true play order is shown above. There is also no mention on the package to the fact that a third of the famous 1964 'Halloween' show is included as filler. It was recorded from side three of a very clean copy of the LP 'All Hallows Eve And More'. The first of that show appeared several weeks earlier as 'Live in New York 1964'. |
