Plasma+ New finish: The 9/2/90 Strawberry Festival Strength In Numbers show must be one of the most circulated shows on the net, deservedly so--great sound, incredible performances. But what nobody seems to realize is that it apparently has never circulated "complete." I don't know if the radio broadcast cut out or the person who seeded the original discs did not have the whole show, but what is missing are the last two songs, "Salty Dog Blues," with Sam singing lead, and the traditional bluegrass instrumental, "Ralph's Banjo Special." The reason I know this is because I asked a friend of mine to tape the festival for me, and gave him my rig to do it. Only problem was he didn't know about the broadcast and taped from the audience. It actually worked out well, because some things (like Sam Bush's workshop) weren't broadcast in entirety. Maybe that was the case for SIN. So I finally dug out my cassettes and transfered the last two tunes. Since so many already have the great broadcast version (and if you don't, grab it), it seems to me to make the most sense for me to upload my 4-track (talk and tunes tracked seperately), 10-minute finale of the show. That way, anyone who already has the show can grab the finale and reburn their second disc of the show with the finale added. Here's the info: STRENGTH IN NUMBERS: 1990/09/02. Strawberry Festival. Addendum to the previously-available 2 CD soundboard set: Finale.Original recording: Sony D6C analog deck using a Maxell MX-90 cassette. My mic was a small but mighty Sony stereo condenser mic powered by a photo battery cell (sorry, I can't remember the model number, and I haven't been able to find the mic for years). The playback deck was a Nakamichi BX-300. Equalized (bass boost) with a Sherwood EQ-200 12-band. Whatever the soundcard is that came with it my 3-year old Dell (I can't recall-Turtle Beach?) is what I use, edited with the Voyetra (I think, anyway) software that came with the Dell. Track 7: talk Track 8: Salty Dog Blues Track 9: Ralph's Banjo Special Track 10: talk (end) Enjoy! Dave Royko |
