Marty Ballou - stand-up bass *featuring Duke Robillard on acoustic guitar Chan's is a supper club in Woonsocket, RI that John Hammond plays regularly. He was on tour with a full band in support of his "Wicked Grin" album, but did what was billed as a "solo" show especially for Chan's, as they celebrate 25 years of putting on shows. He actually showed up with a stand up bass player, Marty Ballou. As a bonus, Woonsocket native Duke Robillard was in the crowd, and joined John and Marty onstage for 4 songs. I recorded this show from the front and center table, with the mic about 1 foot from the front of the stage, at about the same height as Hammond's guitar mic.
