Note | Chicago is another of the best demonstrations of the mystical Aenima tour. This and 11.07.96 Dallas are two of my favorite '96 performances, strange because both came relatively early in the tour. I usually fall for the middle to late in the tour performances, after the band falls into a groove and has everything precision tight. But they sound they've been playing this material for years on this night.
Listen for Prison Sex and Jimmy, played back-to-back. This is how the songs were meant to be played (the second a thematic sequal to the first), but rarely were. And even more rare was this event caught on tape. Jimmy is performed with such passion and fluidity; I get out this night's performance at least once every couple of weeks. It's too bad the band didn't play this song more in concert: it is their most underrated and underappreciated song. Stellar DAT sound here, - probably obtaining the best quality of the first leg of the tour. Tech Notes: 1) Two small dropouts common to the master: Disc 1, Track 6 (Prison Sex): 4:54 Disc 2, Track 1 (Pushit): 9:56 2) Please DO NOT encode this show to mp3. |
