Note | Tool presents a focused performance here at the Palace of Auburn Hills for the first time. Bundles of energy from the opening Grudge all the way through to Lateralus. MJ is inside this performance and his voice is soaring. It's such a pleasure to listen to him when he is command of his voice and accents as he is tonight. Eulogy is a perfect example, and almost sounds as good as it did in the Aenima tours (almost).
USA chanters still abound at these shows after 9/11, and MJ continues scorning all of them. The main body of the recording is good, but oddly bass-heavy, muddy and not dynamic. Especially when compared to the first 3 songs (edited in from the alternate source) which sound notably more crisp. |
