NoteThe Mid-South Coliseum: Home to Jerry Lawler and his famous brawl with The King of Inter-gender Wrestling, Andy Kaufman. There's something in the air here ...
.. Something in the air that night. Musicians do love playing Memphis. This is unquestionably the best Lateralus show I was privilidged to attend (of the 8 or 9 I caught).
This was Tricky's first night opening for Tool. His set was intense and surprisingly well-recieved, which in turn inspired Tool. All night they were locked in, and deep inside the music (despite a comical screw-up where Adam played the bridge between Danny's solo and the final verse of 46&2 too long, and nearly threw everyone off).

By this time in the tour, Pushit had taken on a life of it's own. Thanks to some great tapers out there, we have some of the greatest readings of this song that will ever be played. The solo (guitar-drum improv) coming out of the middle section was the apex of every night (particularly this one) and demonstrated some unbelievable musicianship from Danny. Nirvana at that point ...

The recording: Solid DAT sound. The volume level was set low, the one major fault. Otherwise, a nice warm, well-balanced sound. Slightly better than the alternate MD source.
