NoteLong Beach: The final date of the Lateralus tour.
With the cameras, mics, and digital tapes rolling, they pulled off probably the greatest performance of the '01-'02 tour, and one of the better of all time. Nope, I'm not overstating this one.
Songs were played with intense focus, and as if it were their last time ever performed live. There was that urgency present in Maynard's performance not often displayed in these Lateralus shows.

The performance of Third Eye on this night is paramount. I really thought the best performances of this song were behind us, in the '96 - '98 Aenima tour, but tonight the band truly captured the improv'd, manic but serene essence of this song to perfection. Really, can they Not choose this performance to put on the live DVD?

The Patient is also the best I've heard them do. They were really in control of the dynamics of this song, and the move into the final climax just sends chills.

The quality of the recording, for most of it, is excellent. He hit a nice position, and got a sweet sound here. This and Fresno are Armen's 2 best recording jobs. However, toward the end of Disposition and all throughout Reflection, the bass becomes badly distorted (Armen's not entirely sure why this happened). This distortion subsides during Triad and Lateralus, but is still there a bit.

Nonetheless, this is a must-have show.

Tech Notes:
- Not all tracks were mastered smoothly.
- There are a few pops here and there
