Tech Note | Mahavishnu Orchestra "WILD STRINGS" Live in Cleveland, 1972 Liberated Japanese boot on Firepower label, FP-9046 1: Meeting of the Spirits 2: You know you know 3: The Dance of Maya 4: The Noonward Race ADDITIONAL INFO: ================ Here is some additional info. I have gathered from reliable sources who know more about this gig. The show took place at the Emerson Gynamsium of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. The actual date for the show was April 21st, 1972 The concert billing was: West Bruce and Laing Procol Harum and Mahavishnu Orchestra (as the opening act -- imagine that!) Also, this is the show that John McLaughlin tried to convince CBS to release officially and we all know where that went...sad! Hopefully someday CBS will open their vaults and release the complete show! Please help support the artists by buying their officially released music! -------------------------------------------------------------- Converted from shorten to flac. Comment | John McLaughlin - Electric Doubleneck Guitar Rick Laird - Electric Bass Jerry Goodman - Electric Violin Jan Hammer - Keyboards Billy Cobham - Drums According to John McLaughlin, Columbia refused a live release of this show. John McLaughlin himself feels that this show in Cleveland is one of the best that the Mahavishnu Orchestra has ever done. As Irony would have it, Columbia asked their engineer and Gregg Bendian to assist with the release of this live CD. A mix was made and sent for approval to John McLaughlin. No word from Columbia since. |
