Tech Notelabel: house of elrond (OMS 004); quote (sharingthegroove): -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally posted by ODShowtime Someone needs to raid the cupboards and find the freakin' masters to this and then we'd be set. Originally a radio broadcast, right? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yep, its originally taken from a Radio broadcast and not from a true board. Also, the running order is (usually) whacked but has been corrected here. Also, this is believed to be the first vinyl bootleg of Led Zeppelin which surfaced in Canada and a few copies were purchased by Ken of TMQ (bootleg label in the 70s) and made it to America which is how it was spread (since those were used for the American re-prints and not the original platters). Ken did an interview after he got out of bootleg making for the book "Bootleg: The Other Recording Industry". Last but not least, the lowest gen tape that has been found is a 3rd or 4th (the 4th is confirmed, the 3rd is highly debateable and its usually earmarked as being false) and those were found in the last few years. Tarantura 2000 claims to have found a 2ndgen and used it for their release called "Pb", but bootleg labels are full of $hit so I wouldnt lend that much credence. So if you figure that what we are listening to is a 5th or higher, its definately survived well. The Houston material (which I've heard elsewhere but its the same tape source) is an average recording, soundwise of the tour. Last but not least, this is only a fragment of the show, who knows what else was played, but unless there is a hidden reel somewhere, this is all that was broadcast and no audience tapes circulate (who knows if they exist) of the show. -- Page
